Tulsa Public Schools is a district on the move!

The 2016-2017 school year marked our first year of implementation of our strategic plan, Destination Excellence. While we have much work ahead to ensure that every child is well prepared for college, careers, and life, we are seeing some exciting initial results!

As of March 2017:

• Our 2015-2016 graduation rates showed significant gains at most high schools and an increase of five percentage points district-wide.
• Our focus on improving school climates and cultures through restorative practices and improved classroom management led to a 33% decrease in out-of-school suspensions.
• Our 270 new and novice teachers received more than 2,500 hours of in-field support from teacher-mentors and 389 real-time instructional coaching sessions.
• As we move into the 2017-2018 school year, we will continue to focus on our strategic priorities to advance student achievement:

1. Creating powerful learning experiences for all by implementing an aligned pre-K - 12 instructional program.

2. Cultivating safe, supportive, and joyful school cultures.

3. Attracting, developing, and retaining a highly effective and empowered team.

4. Incubating and implementing innovative classroom, school, and district designs.

5. Fostering the conditions to become the nation's leading 21st century school district.
